How do you unclog an exterior drain?

Advice for unclogging your outdoor drain

The different steps for the unclogging of exterior drains by our plumbers:

  1. First, protect yourself by wearing gloves and goggles.
  2. Remove anything obstructing the drain entrance, such as leaves, twigs, or other debris.
  3. Use a ferret or plumbing snake to clean the pipe. Insert it into the drain and move it forward while turning it until it reaches the plug.
  4. Turn the ferret or snake to help break up or remove debris clogging the drain.
  5. Remove the ferret or snake and flush the drain with water to remove any residue.
  6. If the clog is still present, use a pressure washer to push the debris into the main sewer system.
  7. If the drain is still clogged after these steps, it may be necessary to call a professional plumber to fix the problem.
